Chi-Chao Chang is charged with all facets of xAd’s product management and technology development, including overall strategy, identification of new customer segments and advancement of a vibrant local mobile marketplace.

Prior to xAd, Chang headed Yahoo’s global search operations and the company’s ongoing relationship with Microsoft. While there, he held various senior leadership roles, including vice president of products, which put him in charge of product management, research and development, display advertising, analytics, and testing the company’s Sponsored Search and Content Match product lines. Most notably, Chang built the Yahoo Mail SpamGuard system and Yahoo’s Search Assistant, which is the first peer-reviewed search engine. Earlier in his career, he developed software for large-scale distribution systems, networking and grid computing at Microsoft and Lawrence Berkeley Labs.

Chang holds five patents, has filed more than 15 applications and has published over 25 technical articles. Possessing a doctorate in computer science from Cornell University, he is a regular speaker for Search Engine Strategies, Search Marketing Expo and the Interactive Advertising Bureau, where he also serves on the Search Committee.
