John Denny’s digital marketing experience dates back more than two decades, to work leading the ad agency team for the Prodigy Online Service in the early ’90s. In 1996, he had his first experience with search, heading up the AltaVista Search Engine business at DDB advertising. In the late ’90s, he worked for one of the first ad networks pioneering behavioral targeting, CMGI’s Adsmart.

Today, Denny is vice president marketing for Advance Digital, part of Advance Publications/Conde Nast. He heads up a 17-person group with teams focused on search engine optimization, social media optimization, paid search, analytics, consumer/B2B marketing and email marketing for 12 U.S. local media sites comprising more than 20 million unique users. In addition, he founded, built and heads up the Advance Search & Social unit that provides SEO and social media optimization services to local and regional businesses.
