VP, Yahoo! Local
Matt Idema is vice president of Yahoo!’s Local businesses. In this role, he is responsible for setting the overall strategy and operating plan for Local and leading the execution across product, content and programming, partnerships and revenues. He also led the company’s acquisition of Associated Content and is responsible for its global integration.
Idema joined Yahoo! in 2006 and has played leadership roles in business development and strategy and led multiple strategic initiatives for the company. He was appointed to run Yahoo! Canada in May 2009 and to run Yahoo! Local in January 2010. Yahoo! acquired Associated Content in May 2010.
Idema began his career as a consultant with Accenture and was an early member of the executive team at Yodlee, a Silicon Valley pioneer of online financial services, where he helped launch the initial product, established the company’s European and Asian presence, and managed the business development and partner management functions.
Idema earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan and also holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
