Web Presence: Are SMBs Investing Enough?
Matt Booth, 3/5/2012
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
BIA/Kelsey’s latest Local Commerce Monitor survey, Wave 15 performed in Q4 2011, contains several important findings about the Web presence of SMBs, which we explore in this Client Inquiry Brief:
· The penetration of traditional websites and business profile pages may be near saturation (in fact, profile pages may actually be losing penetration).
· Spending on websites (and similar Web presence) increased significantly over the prior year.
· Spending on digital/online ad media is roughly comparable with that of the prior year.
This document also examines empirical data from a large-scale audit of SMB websites conducted by vSplash. The data indicate that a large number, probably the overwhelming majority, of SMB websites are not very robust and, in fact, have serious shortcomings.
